Answers to the most common questions about Stamio. For everything you can do, screen by screen with pictures, see the user guide: Settings › About › User guide, or stamio.app/guide/.
What you need
An iPhone and an Apple Watch (Series 6 or later, SE 2nd generation or later, or Ultra). Stamio calculates your fitness from what the watch measures in the Health app: wear it day and night. Workouts recorded with the Workout app count too.
Record an activity with Stamio
On your watch, open Stamio › Activities, pick the activity (run, trail, treadmill, walk, hike, bike, indoor bike, strength or other), then "Start". Plan workouts and the workout of the day wait at the top of the list, guided step by step.
- Start: on Apple Watch Ultra, the timer stays at 0 until you press the Action button, so the GPS has time to lock on; on other watches, a 3-second countdown. Change it on the iPhone (Settings › Your watch › Start and pause) or in the activity's settings on the watch.
- During the activity: swipe right for the controls (pause, lap, end, lock). The Action button (Ultra) and double tap (Series 9 and later, Ultra 2 and later, SE 3) are set in Settings › Your watch › Rain and buttons.
- In the rain: "Lock" (or "Lock at start") makes the screen ignore raindrops; turn the Digital Crown to unlock it.
- Ending: hold "End" for one second, so you never stop by accident. If you forget: after 20 minutes without moving, your watch asks "Done with your run?"; with no answer, the workout is ended and saved after 2 hours without movement. At 3% battery, it's ended and saved while there's still enough power to write it.
- Workout split in two (battery, update): your watch asks "One session in two parts?"; "Join into one" turns it back into a single workout in Health.
- Battery: with GPS, expect about 6 to 9% per hour on an Apple Watch Ultra 3, a little more on a smaller watch. The start screen shows how long the battery will last for the activity; Low Power Mode (less frequent GPS) makes it last longer and is offered for hikes or when the battery is low.
Routes and offline maps
Routes tab › "Add a route": "Create a route" suggests three loops or out-and-backs of the distance you want, on paths and quiet streets (or trace one with your finger); you can also import a GPX or FIT file, or a Strava route. Put it on your watch; you pick it on the start screen. On the watch too: start screen › the route line › "Create a route". Turns are announced by voice and the watch taps your wrist if you leave the route (more than 40 m, about 130 ft, for 10 seconds).
To see the map without a connection: Routes tab › Maps on your watch › "Download an area". Outside the downloaded areas, the Apple Maps map takes over when your watch has a connection (iPhone nearby or cellular).
Stamio Pro
Free, forever: your morning readiness (readiness, sleep, HRV, energy, stress…), your VO2 max over 4 weeks, recording and guidance of your activities, the Start running, My first 5K and Come back after a break programs, your own workouts, one voice-guided route (without a background map), PRs, badges and shoes.
Stamio Pro unlocks the rest: goal plans (week 1 of your first plan is free), training status, load and effect, threshold, predictions, unlimited offline maps and routes, race strategy, complications, exports. The offer screen shows the prices and the free trial. To manage or cancel your subscription: Settings › Stamio Pro › "Manage my subscription", or your Apple Account settings. On a new iPhone: "Restore purchases".
Why doesn't a value show up yet?
Some values need a bit of history. An empty card always says what it's waiting for, for example "After 18 nights with the watch" for HRV status. VO2 max appears after an outdoor run with the watch on your wrist; training status after about two weeks.
If almost nothing shows up, check the permissions: Settings › Apps › Health › Data Access & Devices › Stamio, then "Turn On All". On iOS 27, also choose "All recorded and future data" rather than the last 30 days.
My plan workouts don't reach my watch
By default, Stamio guides your workouts on the watch itself: today's and tomorrow's are waiting at the top of Activities, in Stamio on your watch. If you prefer the Workout app: in Stamio, Settings › Your watch › "Workout app", then "Send plan workouts to the Workout app". The first time, allow sending to the Workout app. The next 7 days are then kept up to date after every change to the plan. Open the app on your iPhone now and then so it stays current.
My values differ from another watch
That's normal: every brand has its own sensors and its own calculations. Stamio estimates your values from your Apple Watch measurements. Watch the trend from week to week rather than the exact number on any given day.
Change units or language
Settings › Display: kilometers or miles, the app language (French or English) and the watch language (same as iPhone by default). On the watch, the new language shows up when Stamio restarts: close the app on the watch, then open it again.
Switch iPhones or reinstall Stamio
Turn on Settings › Data and health › "Copy in iCloud": your plan, your entered race times and your preferences are kept there. On the new iPhone (same Apple Account), Stamio offers "Plan found in iCloud" after the introduction; your values (VO2 max, load, sleep…) are recalculated from Health. Restoring an iPhone backup or a direct iPhone-to-iPhone transfer also brings everything back, copy or not.
Delete my data
Settings › Data and health › "Delete app data" erases everything Stamio stored, without touching Health. "Reset calculations" recalculates everything from Health and keeps your plan and settings.
Privacy
Your health data never leaves your devices: everything is calculated on your iPhone and watch, and nothing is sold. Only what you choose goes out: the iCloud copy (without health data), the Strava connection and map downloads. The details are in the privacy policy (Settings › About).
